In a significant step towards inclusive economic development, Chai Rasta has partnered with the Mission for Elimination of Poverty in Municipal Areas (MEPMA) and Society of Elimination of Rural Poverty (SERP), Government of Andhra Pradesh, to create a scalable and sustainable model for women-led entrepreneurship.
At the heart of this initiative lies a simple yet powerful idea — transforming everyday chai into a vehicle for empowerment.
A Vision Rooted in Opportunity
Across Andhra Pradesh, thousands of women in Self-Help Groups (SHGs) possess the drive and determination to build better livelihoods for themselves and their families. However, access to structured business opportunities, training, and financial support has often been a barrier.
The Chai Rasta–MEPMA & SERP collaboration aims to bridge this gap by enabling SHG women to establish and operate standardised chai and coffee outlets, providing them with a reliable and scalable source of income.
From Skill to Enterprise
Under this initiative, women are not just trained — they are transformed into entrepreneurs.
Chai Rasta brings its proven business model, offering end-to-end support that includes:
- Outlet setup and infrastructure
- Training in product preparation and customer service
- Supply chain and raw material management
- Digital billing and operational systems
- Continuous mentoring and quality control
Simultaneously, MEPMA & SERP play a crucial enabling role by identifying eligible SHG women, facilitating access to locations, and supporting financial inclusion through coordination with banks and institutions.
Creating Impact at Scale
The initiative is designed to operate at scale, with plans to establish 200+ outlets in urban areas and 800+ outlets in rural areas across Andhra Pradesh, creating widespread opportunities for women and youth.
By combining structured training with a standardised business model, the program ensures consistency, sustainability, and long-term viability for each participating entrepreneur.
